IMG_8100.JPG

Join Solstice Handmade for a night of stitching and socializing surrounded by artwork at Lions & Rabbits Gallery.

During this all levels embroidery crash course, we'll cover 4 outline and filling stitches and use them to complete a sampler of Michigan mushrooms. Beginners are welcome, and the pros are welcome to work at their own pace. After we've gotten familiar with our stitch techniques, we'll tune into the Documentary "Super Fungi" to learn about how mushrooms fit into our ecosystem, and how they may be able to solve problems like pollution. This film is full of gorgeous shots of colorful fungi, time lapses of their growth, and interviews with Paul Stamets. You'll leave with a finished embroidered wall hanging and a new awareness for fungi, hiding in plain sight all around you.

Participants will create a stitched work of art that can be used as a gift, wall hanging, or sewn into something else! you can expect to sew as far as the image below durin class. This class is fit for both beginners and pros, the class will be split into small groups with periodic demos by Instructor Dayna Walton to allow for all to work at their own pace.
Ages 14+ please! All supplies included, each participant will recieve a printed sampler to stitch, a hoop, thread, needle, and instructional sheet. feel free to BYOB!
